Police say an 8th horse had already been struck and killed by a car

York Regional Police say they have found seven horses that were loose east of Newmarket and have taken them off of the road after warning drivers about the animals earlier this morning.

Police said that the animals were loose in the area of Davis Drive and McCowan Road.

Before locating the seven horses, an eighth horse was killed after it was hit by a car in the area. One person was taken to hospital with minor injuries from the crash.

The horses are believed to have escaped from a pen at the Royal Canadian Riding Academy on Davis Drive.
