A 49-year-old man is facing a number of charges after allegedly driving while impaired by alcohol in Brantford.

Brantford Police say they were called to a bar on Murray Street, where the man drove away after reacting “aggressively” to pleas from friends and bar staff not to drive.

Before turning off Murray, the man allegedly drove into two parked cars.

He was placed under arrest and taken to hospital for medical observation, then to the police station.

When asked to provide breath samples, police say, the man instead attempted to fight police officers.

The New Liskeard resident now faces charges of impaired driving, failure to provide a breath sample, breach of probation and drug possession.
