Ahmed Darwish, 26, of Kitchener, is being sentenced today in Kitchener Court.
Darwish pled guilty in March to five driving related offenses including impaired driving causing death.
Court heard that Darwish was travelling 214 kilometres an hour on November 27th when he crashed his car into the vehicle containing 29-year-old Susana Dumitru, her husband, her two-month-old son, and her mother-in-law. Dumitru was killed, and her son was seriously injured in the collision.
The sentencing hearing was set for 10:00 a.m. this morning.
Darwish’s other charges include dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, and refusing to provide a breath sample.
