An Amherstburg police officer who stopped a truck for speeding also ended up laying a drunk driving charge and arresting two men wanted on warrants from London, St. Thomas and Windsor.
Amherstburg police stopped the truck for speeding on Concession 2 North around 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The officer decide to give the driver a roadside alcohol test after getting suspicious that he might be drunk. Police said the driver refused to cooperate.
After running their names, the officer realized the driver and his passenger had outstanding warrants against them from London, St. Thomas and Windsor.
Amherstburg police didn’t say what offences the warrants were for.
John Sawatzky, 37, from Harrow, is charged with fail or refuse to provide a sample of breath, fail to comply with recognizance, fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking and speeding. He was also arrested on outstanding warrants from London, St. Thomas and Windsor.
His passenger, 42-year-old Xanadu Major from Amherstburg, is charged with fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking. He also had an outstanding warrant from Windsor.
