On Sunday, April 10, 2016 at approximately 1:16 a.m. police were travelling southbound on Bradford Street, in the City of Barrie and observed a vehicle travelling northbound through the Tiffin Street intersection.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Tiffin Street which continued into the Go Station located on Lakeshore Drive. The driver continued down the terminal making a left hand turn and going down the bus route. The vehicle had run out of roadway and stopped at the curb.

Police approached the driver side of the vehicle and spoke to the male driver. Police could detect a strong odour of alcohol emanating from his breath. He was slurring his words and his eyes were red and glossy.

As a result of the investigation, a 62 year old male was arrested, and subsequently charged with Impaired Driving and Over 80.

The accused was released on a Promise to appear.


Occurrence Type: Driver Failed To Stop For Red Light

On Monday, April 12, 2016 police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Bayfield Street and Ferris Lane, in the City of Barrie.

Two vehicles collided within the intersection as a result of a vehicle heading southbound on Bayfield Street failing to stop for a red light, and colliding with a vehicle entering the intersection from Ferris Lane.

The collision propelled the vehicles onto the lawn and into the parking lot of Burger King Restaurant. One driver was transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Center with minor injuries.

Police have charged the 19-year-old driver of the vehicle heading southbound on Bayfield Street with, fail to stop for red light.
