Brockville police vehicleCity police are seeking the public’s assistance in connection with an incident that occurred in Brockville early Saturday morning.

A blue, two-door 2002 Honda Civic was stopped for a traffic violation in the vicinity of King Street East just after midnight. The car sped away at a speed considered dangerous to the public as the officer was walking up to speak to the driver, according to a police news release issued late Saturday. A pursuit was not initiated in the interest of public safety, the release states.

The car reportedly has winter tires on black, steel winter rims with silver lug nuts and has a large resonator on the rear passenger side and no window tint. The male driver and the lone male passenger are described as being in their early 20s. The release does not include information about licence plates.
