Police in Owen Sound were busy with impaired drivers last weekend.

Police say it started on Friday just before 10 PM when officers were called about a vehicle swerving all over the road in the 700 block of 10th Street East.

A 22 year old Markdale woman was charged with impaired driving.

On Saturday night, several police services in the area including Owen Sound Police, OPP, Saugeen Shores Police and West Grey Police conducted RIDE programs.

The RIDE check outside the Georgian Shores Marina where hundreds of people attended the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular, found a 50 year old Owen Sound man was driving with three times the legal blood alcohol limit.

A RIDE check a different entrance found another driver who was over the limit after police say they tried to actively avoid the police check.

Then on Sunday morning just before 4 AM, police responded to an accident in the 200 block of 8th Street East, where a vehicle had crashed into a tree and the driver had left the scene.

Police say the 21 year old driver from Owen Sound was later found in the 200 block of 12th Street West. He faces impaired driving and drug possession charges.
