A 49-year-old Pickering male, who was seriously injured as result of driving his car down an embankment, is charged with dangerous driving.

On Sunday, September 11, 2016, at approximately 1:40 a.m., officers from East Division responded to the area of Townline Road South and Olive Avenue in Oshawa regarding a single vehicle collision. A witness reported that a male was found with a vehicle that had rolled onto its roof in a wooded area. Officers arrived at the scene and located a 2000 Honda Accord that had traveled south on Townline Road South, through a metal guardrail and over a steep embankment. The driver was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.

Karunakaran AMBIKAWATHY, age 49, of Wildwood Crescent in Pickering, is charged with Dangerous Driving. He was later released on a Promise to Appear.
