Police have laid a number of drug and theft charges after seizing marijuana, cocaine, mushrooms and cash from a vehicle during a traffic stop that took place over the weekend in Alliston.

A Nottawasaga OPP officer pulled the vehicle over just after 11 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, on Victoria St. E.

The officer soon discovered the driver had a suspended driver’s licence.

As the investigation continued, the officer found marijuana readily available to the driver.

After searching the vehicle, police found more marijuana, cocaine, mushrooms and cash.

The driver, 34-year-old Lindsey Cole of Scarborough, was arrested and charged with driving while suspended, driving with cannabis readily available, unlawful purchase of cannabis, possession of over 30 grams of cannabis in a public space, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cocaine.

Nottawasaga OPP Staff Sgt. Brian Humber said the cash was allegedly stolen, which is why she was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The passenger, 47-year-old Matthew Mitchell of Pickering, was arrested and charged with possession for the purposes of trafficking, possession of cocaine and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
