Witnesses stated a single vehicle veered off the road and struck a hydro pole

On March 10, 2018 at approximately 3:25 a.m., Guelph Police were called to the intersection of Speedvale Avenue West and Dawson Road, where there was a report of a collision. Witnesses stated a single vehicle veered off the road and struck a hydro pole.

The driver of vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver, Justin Haggins, a 41-year-old Guelph male, was charged with impaired driving and dangerous driving. He was given a March 27, 2018 court date.


On March 12, 2018 at 2:11 a.m., Guelph Police were called by a concerned citizen who suspected a vehicle was being driven by a drunk driver. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Drew Street and Rosewood Avenue. The driver was spoken to and arrested for impaired driving. The driver was transported to the police station and further charged with refusing to provide breath sample.

Matthew Samuel, a 29-year-old Guelph male, was given an April 27, 2018 court date.


On March 10, 2018 at approximately 7 a.m., Guelph Police were called about a suspicious vehicle in the area of Woodlawn Road and Woolwich Street. Police were able to locate the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop on Woolwich Street near Quebec Street. The driver was spoken to and subsequently arrested for impaired driving by drug.

Craig Brace, a 42-year-old Brampton man, was given a March 27, 2018 court date.
