A North Bay police officer has been arrested and faces impaired driving related charges for a third time.

Constable Steve Taylor faces new charges of impaired driving and driving with over 80 millilitres of alcohol in his blood.

Taylor will appear in court July 28 on the new charges, laid by North Bay police yesterday evening.

He’ll appear in court October 16th to face trial on an earlier charge of failing to provide a breath sample laid by the OPP in December.

Chief Paul Cook told BayToday that the incident was “off-duty”.

Cook also says he’s laid a Chief’s Complaint against Taylor under the Police Services Act. That internal investigation will be carried out by Sgt. Noel Coulas.

The Chief says he won’t comment on the specifics of the new charges as they are now before the courts and he doesn’t want to jeopardize the investigation.

Taylor had been assigned to administrative duties at the police station related to a previous incident.
