A 58-year-old driver has been charged with drunk driving after going the wrong way on the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police observed a man driving onto the Greenhill Ave. exit ramp, proceeding northbound down the shoulder of the southbound lanes.

Additional officers were called in to assist, and they were able to block him in close to the QEW, as he slowed to 20 km/h.

“It was a very scary situation. Without them there, someone coming up the hill wouldn’t have been able to see that car at all,” said Staff Sgt. John Canaris.

The driver, a 58-year-old man, has been charged with impaired driving and exceeding the limit.
