An off-duty O.P.P. officer is credited with spotting a suspected drunk driver trying to high-tail it from the scene of a crash.

The officer, from a detachment outside Leeds County, saw the collision between two vehicles on Old Kingston Road on Thursday afternoon and phoned it in.

Leeds County O.P.P. officers were able to track down the fleeing vehicle.

A 67-year-old man from Rideau Lakes Township is facing drunk driving charges. The driver wasn’t charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, though Const. Eric Cranton told Brockville Newswatch the investigation is ongoing.

As for the other motorist, they were not injured.
