Drive-thru staff at two fast food restaurants helped police nab a pair of impaired drivers on the weekend.

One of the drivers blew almost three times the legal limit and the other nearly double, Brantford police said.

The driver of a black Ford Explorer had a beer in his lap while coming through the drive-thru at a Stanley Street restaurant at 6:45 p.m. on Friday.

Police were called and located the vehicle driving in the area. A bottle of beer was in the cup holder and another bottle in the driver’s side door spilled out onto the road when the driver was asked to step out of the vehicle.

A 54-year-old Brantford man, who blew nearly three times the legal limit, is facing a charge of over 80 mg.

The second incident happened a restaurant on Wayne Gretzky Parkway on Saturday at around 2:45 a.m.

Workers suspected the driver of a Jeep was impaired and asked the man to pull into the waiting area at the front of the restaurant. Meantime, police were called.

After failing a roadside screening test, the driver, a 26-year-old Brantford man, blew nearly double the legal limit at the police station. He also faces an over 80 charge.
