A 50-year-old female from Whitby was arrested for exceeding the legal limit after officers, who had to evacuate Traffic Court for a fire drill, located her parked outside.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers in attendance at Traffic Court at the Regional Headquarters in Whitby were required to evacuate the building due to a fire drill. As hundreds of people calmly exited the building, witnesses reported to the officers that they believed a female, who was in a parked van just outside of the court, was intoxicated and about to drive away.
The officers investigated the driver and arrested her without incident. A coffee cup containing wine was located in the vehicle’s cup holder.
Janette DREW, age 50, of Nichol Avenue in Whitby, is charged with: Exceed 80 mgs. She was later released on a Promise to Appear.
