A girl has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after she was struck by a car in east Hamilton early Wednesday.

Police and paramedics were called to Cannon Street East and Province St. N. at 8:14 a.m., for report a child was hit.

Hamilton Police Const. Jerome Stewart says the child’s parents were with her at the scene. It’s not known if the girl is a student at Queen Mary elementary school, near the scene of the incident.

Lane restrictions on Cannon were expected to end shortly as police cleared the scene. The Collision Reconstruction Unit has not been called in to investigate.
