A Belleville councillor is calling for some 4-way traffic stops on a major east-end road that will be extended this year.

Councillor Jack Miller raised the issue at this week’s city council meeting.

Miller says there are stops where Bridge Street and Victoria Avenue meet Haig Road but no stops signs for the entire length of Haig Road, itself.

He says residents of the area raised the issue as a major concern during the last election.

Miller says it’s now about safety and speed control.

Haig Road will be extended to Station Street during 2017.
