Halton police are crediting a vigilant resident with helping to get an alleged impaired driver off Oakville’s streets Saturday.

At around 2:30 p.m., a resident contacted police after witnessing a vehicle collide with the Town of Oakville’s construction signage in the area of Rebecca and Forsythe streets.

Officers ultimately caught up with an individual whom they allege was impaired by a drug.

A 32-year-old Oakville man has been charged with impaired driving.

Halton police are reminding residents impaired driving is considered a crime in progress and anyone who sees a suspected impaired driver is encouraged to contact 911 immediately.
