A Burlington man faces charges following a two-car crash that sent two Hamilton residents to hospital.

A Hamilton man is in critical condition after his vehicle was hit by an allegedly drunk driver in Burlington on the weekend.

The Saturday afternoon collision at the intersection of King Road and Plains Road East involved a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a 1997 Cadillac Seville.

The occupants of the Cadillac, Antonio D’Angelo, 80, and Marie D’Angelo, 74, both of Hamilton, were seriously injured.

Both occupants of the Cadillac were taken to Hamilton General Hospital.

Plains Road East at King Road was closed in both directions for about five hours while the police Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated.

Jean Theriault, 69, of Burlington face two counts each of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, dangerous driving and driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol causing bodily harm.

Theriault, who was not hurt in the collision, was held for a bail hearing in Milton.

The crash remains under investigation. Any witnesses are asked to contact police at 905-634-1831, ext. 5065.
