Man and woman from Hamilton both face dozens of charges

A man and woman from Hamilton have been arrested and are both facing more than 30 firearm-related charges. (Hamilton Police Service)

A traffic stop and short foot chase Monday morning led Hamilton police to seize more than a dozen firearms and lay more than 30 firearm-related charges.

Officers tried to stop a 21-year-old Hamilton man while he was driving near the corner of Barton Street East and Ottawa Street around 10:30 a.m.

Police say the man pulled into a lot and ran away but was found nearby, hiding between parked vehicles.

A search of the suspect revealed a loaded .22 caliber handgun and a Taser. Investigators also found several​ other guns and ammunition inside the vehicle.

A search warrant for a home on Robinson Street and a commercial site on Parkdale Avenue North also uncovered more guns.

The Hamilton man and a 21-year-old Hamilton woman have each been charged with more than 30 firearms-related offences.
