A Hamilton man is facing an impaired driving charge after a Valentine’s Day crash in Burlington, police say.

The accused and a 22-year-old female passenger were travelling southbound on Brant Street in a Honda Civic at around 12:24 a.m. on that Sunday.

Police allege the vehicle went through the intersection at Fairview Street and struck a light standard on the south side of the centre median.

Both parties suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

An investigation found the accused was allegedly impaired, police say.

Dimitrios Dimas, 33, of Hamilton, has been charged with impaired over 80 cause bodily harm.

He is scheduled to appear in a Milton court on Mar. 30, 2016.
