A suspected drunk driver has been arrested after allegedly speeding through a construction zone Monday night.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m., officers spotted a 2012 black Ford F150 driving in an “aggressive manner.”

“Investigation revealed the truck was operating at a speed of 120 km/hr in a posted 60 km zone,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “A traffic stop was conducted where police determined the driver was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.”

A 38-year-old man from Glanbrook was arrested and charged with impaired driving and stunt driving. The man’s license was suspended, and his truck was seized and impounded for seven days.

He is scheduled to appear in court on April 19.

Additional penalties upon conviction of stunt driving can include a fine of up to $10,000, seven demerit points and a dramatic increase in insurance rates.
