A pedestrian involved in an April 5th collision in Hamilton has died.

The 50-year-old woman was reportedly hit by a 30-year-old male driving on Upper Wentworth Street, approaching the Fennel Avenue East intersection.

She was initially transported to hospital by paramedics in critical condition. Late Monday evening, she died from her injuries a Hamilton police media release said.

The driver was initially charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian, an earlier release stated.

Police are not releasing the identity of the woman at the family’s request for privacy.

This marks the fifth Hamilton traffic fatality of 2016.
