A Hamilton woman was killed, police say, after losing control of her vehicle and crashing into a guardrail.

The 54-year-old was driving her Hyundai Santa Fe east on Highway 20 in Thorold around 10:40 a.m. Friday when police say the vehicle veered off the road, hit the rail and crossed into the opposite lane before getting stuck in the ditch.

Emergency crews found the woman and her vehicle near the Allanburg Bridge, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash, along with the coroner’s office. Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call (905) 688-4111, extension 5500.
