RICHARDS LANDING – On Oct. 22, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 548 near the Town of Richard’s Landing.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m., police observed a loud vehicle approach the intersection at Highway 548 and 20th Sideroad. Once through the intersection the vehicle accelerated rapidly.
A traffic stop was initiated. While police were speaking with the male driver, the officer determined the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
As a result, Travis Garside, 23 years of age, from Tarbutt-Tarbutt Additional Township, Ontario, was arrested and charged with: Care or control over 80 milligrams, contrary to section 253 (1) of the Criminal Code.
The male’s vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence seized.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Nov. 22, 2016
