A 38-year-old driver from Oshawa is facing multiple charges after a police pursuit led officers from Oshawa to Ajax early Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday March 16, 2016, at approximately 1:40 a.m., an officer from Central East Division spotted a silver vehicle driving erratically in the area of Wentworth and Simcoe Streets in Oshawa. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect refused to stop and more officers were called in. The vehicle travelled north on Ritson Road through some side streets before making its way south on Harmony Road and on to the westbound 401.

With lights and sirens activated, officers continued the pursuit on to the 401 and officers from Central West and West Divisions were notified. The vehicle exited the highway south on Westney Road and drove through a parking lot before heading north on Westney Road. The vehicle was boxed in by cruisers at Magill Drive and the vehicle attempted to get through, damaging one of the cruisers before stopping.

The male suspect resisted arrest and a struggle ensued with officers. A conductive energy weapon was deployed and the K-9 unit assisted and the male was arrested. He was taken to hospital for minor injures. A male passenger in the vehicle was also taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Douglas ADAMS, age 38, of Oshawa, is charged with: Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drug; Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Fail to Stop for Police; Prohibited Driving x2; Driving While Under Suspension x2 and Failing to Comply with Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.
