A Kingsville man is facing charges after OPP say he was driving the wrong way on the 401 drunk.

Police say that they received several calls on November 26th, 2018 at approximately 11:30pm regarding a vehicle travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near St. Clair College.

A Chevrolet driven by a 73-year-old male travelled the wrong way on Highway 401 and struck a Suzuki head on.

The driver of the Suzuki suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The driver of the Chevrolet was not injured but exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested at the scene.

Antonio Braga of Kingsville was charged with impaired driving and exceed 80 milligrams blood alcohol content. He will appear in a Windsor court on December 11th, 2018 to answer to the charges.

Both vehicles sustained major damage in the crash.

“The decision by drivers to continue to drive while impaired on our roadways has a lifelong impact. This driving behaviour has always been unacceptable and for those who think they won’t get caught, think again. The eyes of all drivers are on you and we continue to encourage the public to contact the OPP immediately of suspected impaired or distracted driving.” We are now entering the holiday season and while you may not see us, we will see you,” said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Glenn Miller.
