Police say Selwyn Township man had been drinking prior to two-vehicle crash


A Selwyn Township man has been charged following a two-vehicle collision east of Peterborough on Tuesday afternoon (July 7).

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the collision occurred when a northbound truck drifted into the path of a southbound truck on Highway 28 south of Division Road shortly before 4 p.m. Both vehicles caught fire and one skidded into the ditch. Three passing motorists stopped to pull a driver from one of the trucks.

Police say all of the occupants of the vehicles were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

After an investigation, police charged Michael Douglas Goddard, 41, with careless driving. He was also issued a three-day license suspension for having a blood alcohol concentration between .05 mg and .100 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
