A 24 year old Kingston man has been charged with impaired driving after driving his car into Lake Ontario.
Police were called to the boat launch at the foot of West Street last Thursday night in response to a report of suspicious activity.
When they arrived they could see the flashing hazard lights of a car submerged in the water.
The driver – who had escaped unharmed – was nearby and it was determined he had been consuming alcohol.
At police headquarters he blew one and a half times the legal limit.
