Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police officers on Thursday charged a man they believe had been involved in two traffic-related incidents in South Frontenac Township on March 4.
Around 11:15 p.m., Frontenac OPP were conducting a RIDE check at the intersection of Perth Road and Rutledge Road. Police saw a lone male driver in an orange Chevrolet small sedan approach the RIDE check and, just before stopping, took off and proceeded southbound on Perth Road at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, OPP officers located the same vehicle at the corner of Perth Road and Latimer Road in Inverary, looking as if it had hit a traffic light standard there.
The male driver of the vehicle wasn’t found near the car when police arrived on the scene. A further search that night was unsuccessful.
After an investigation, the OPP have charged Calvin Taylor, 25, of South Frontenac Township with a variety of offences, including driving while under suspension, failing to report an accident, disobeying an officer directing traffic, and possession of a schedule II substance.
Taylor was issued a summons to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on May 4.
