No! You Can’t Borrow The Car

A 53-year-old Lindsay woman has been charged after taking a vehicle when the owner told her she could not.

Early Thursday, April 6th, 2017 the woman was at a friends house in Lindsay when she asked if she could borrow their vehicle. Knowing that the woman had no driver’s licence the owner declined to let her use it but did offer to drive her to where she needed to go. While the owner was getting dressed the woman took the keys to the vehicle and drove it to another residence a short distance away, where the owner located it.

Annette Dibattista of Lindsay has been charged with Taking a Motor Vehicle Without Consent. She will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, May 11th, 2017.

Traffic Stop Nets Crystal Meth & Heroin

Two people have been charged with drug-related offences after a vehicle was stopped on Kent Street West late Thursday afternoon.

At 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 members of the Kawartha Lakes Police stopped a vehicle on Kent Street West whose occupants were suspected of trafficking in narcotics. A search of the vehicle and the occupants resulted in quantities of Crystal Meth, Heroin and Hash Oil being seized. Police also located a large quantity of cash and pepper spray. A female located in the vehicle was found to be released on a Recognizance which prohibited her from being in the City of Kawartha Lakes.

Charged with three counts of Possession of A Controlled Substance, Possession of Proceeds of Crime, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Failing To Comply With a Probation Order is 38-year-old Jason David Middleton of Port Perry, Ontario. Charged with Failing To Comply with a Recognizance and Failing To Comply with a Probation Order is 26-year-old Kayla Kruger of no fixed address. Both parties will appear in the Lindsay, Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, April 7th, 2017 for a Bail Hearing.
