No injuries reported after vehicle catches fire on Notre Dame Avenue

Updated at 8:30 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police and Greater Sudbury Fire Services have finished dealing with a vehicle fire near the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Lasalle Boulevard this morning.

Police report the fire has been extinguished and the roadway is now clear. All lanes have been re-opened.

Updated at 8:21 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police say no injuries are reported from a vehicle fire that has closed three southbound lanes of traffic on Notre Dame Avenue this morning.

Police and fire are on scene and those lanes of traffic remain closed. The fire is north of the intersection with Lasalle Boulevard, near Turner and Mitchell streets. The centre lane is being used to keep one lane of southbound traffic moving, but traffic is moving slowly.

Use and caution and drive slowly if you’re heading in that direction.

Greater Sudbury Police are on the scene of a vehicle fire just north of the intersection of Lasalle Boulevard and Notre Dame Avenue this morning.

While emergency crews deal with the fire, the southbound lanes of Notre Dame remain closed. The centre lane is being kept open to allow traffic to pass.

Traffic is moving, but slowly. You might want to avoid the area if you can.
