Monday’s morning commute was littered with collisions thanks to a winter weather system that created slippery conditions on city streets and area highways.

Hamilton police were called to more than a dozen collisions throughout the city, the bulk of which occurred between 7 a.m. and 11 a.m.

OPP say they responded to hundreds of collision calls, including one on the 400 north of Toronto Sunday that involved up to 40 vehicles.

Nine people were treated for minor injuries.

A snowfall warning was issued Sunday for Hamilton, Burlington, Niagara and parts of the GTA.

Despite the un-spring like weather, all schools in Hamilton, Halton and Niagara [were] open and buses running.
