A 32-year-old Hamilton man was arrested for impaired driving after being spotted swerving and speeding by an off-duty officer Wednesday night.

Shortly before 8 p.m., an off-duty Hamilton police officer saw a green Ford F-150 driving at an “excessive speed” near Fruitland Road and the QEW.

Police said the truck was weaving between lanes and nearly hit another vehicle and the median.

The officer contacted police communications, who dispatched patrol cars that stopped the truck near Stone Church Road East and Upper Gage Avenue.

The man was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.

He was released on a promise to appear in court May 28.
