An off-duty Hamilton police officer was arrested and charged with impaired driving on Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to a “minor” vehicle collision on Wilson Street West and Portia Drive in Ancaster around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
They arrested an off-duty police officer and charged the officer with impaired operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 mL of blood, the legal limit for alcohol.
The officer has a 28-year career with Hamilton police and is uniform patrol in the Mountain division.
The officer was released on a promise to appear in court.
