Ontario Provincial Police in Chatham laid 16 distracted driving charges last weekend, part of an enforcement initiative on the 401.
Officers were looking for four problematic driving behaviours: drunk driving, speeding, distracted driving, and not properly using seatbelts.
The 16 distracted driving charges were part of 56 overall. Others include 16 moving violations, seven documentation charges, seven parking violations, six equipment violations, three seatbelt charges, and one speeding charge.
An additional 22 warnings were given over the weekend.
