welcome banner for the festivalProvincial police say they were busy at the Boots and Hearts Festival over the weekend, but are calling the event a success on their part.

In total, police responded to 193 calls between the start of the festival on Thursday and its conclusion on Monday. These calls were for a variety of things, including alcohol and drug offences, as well as medical assistance.

OPP are also calling a traffic plan devised by Burl’s Creek a success – reporting no increase in the usual weekend commute in cottage country.

It will fall on bylaw enforcement officers with the Township of Oro-Medonte to determine if Burl’s Creek committed any infractions during the course of the festival.

That process is expected to take several weeks.
