An e-bike driver faces alcohol-related charges after local police noticed a bike swerve across the road.
On May 27 at approximately 10 p.m., a member of the West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was on patrol on Bowes Street. The officer observed an e-bike swerving across the centre line and almost hitting the curb. The officer conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver.
Victor Smith, a 53-year-old Parry Sound man, is charged with impaired driving and drunk driving and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound, Ontario on June 21.
There is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
