A scooter driver was charged after local police were tipped about a possible drunk driver.

On May 21, shortly after 4 p.m., West Parry Sound OPP responded to a report of a possible impaired driver riding a scooter in Parry Sound. An officer located the vehicle on James Street and spoke with the driver.

Robin Johnson, 49, of Parry Sound, was charged with drunk driving.

Johnson was given a June 21 court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound.

Police remind the public there is no safe amount of drug or alcohol consumption when driving. Anyone who suspects a driver that is driving while impaired is urged to call police by dialing 9-1-1 immediately.
