Police say a 60 year-old man was charged with careless driving after he failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Niagara Emergency Medical Services vehicle in Fort Erie Tuesday night.

Niagara Regional Police Const. Phil Gavin said a man driving a 2009 Volvo was travelling northbound on Pettit Road when it struck a Niagara EMS vehicle travelling westbound on Gilmore Road, causing the Niagara EMS vehicle to hit a light stand at 7:50 p.m.

Gavin said the driver of the Volvo sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
