Police subdued an aggressive man with a Taser after chasing him down following an assault at the Hunter Street GO station.

The man had punched and kicked a 57-year-old woman after she’d watched him steal merchandise from a store at the station Saturday afternoon, police allege.

Witnesses pointed officers to Bold Street and MacNab Street South, where they found the suspect, who’d led police on a “lengthy foot chase.”

He resisted arrest and assaulted officers, police said. One officer wound up with a broken hand.

“Officers were eventually able to safely deploy the CEW (Conducted Energy Weapon) to stop the man from assaulting them and make the arrest,” police said in a press release Monday.

Officers seized a small amount of marijuana from the man.

The woman at the GO station sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the assault, police said.

Tristan Hubert Cocks, 27, of Hamilton, is charged with assault, assault while resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and failing to comply with probation.
