Accused faces three charges

A 23-year-old Brampton man is facing drunk driving charges after crashing his car near a busy Brampton intersection Thursday night (Nov. 16), sending his teenaged passenger to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The single-vehicle crash on Steeles Avenue just east of Hurontario Street occurred just before 10 p.m. Nov. 16.

Peel Const. Mark Fischer said a vehicle with two people inside crashed into a pole.

The female passenger, an 18-year-old from Kingston, was transported to a Toronto trauma centre by Peel Region Paramedics with life-threatening head injuries. Her condition has since improved and she is listed in stable condition.

Michael Woolcock is charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, excess blood alcohol and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.

The force’s major collision bureau is investigating.
