A man on probation for previous drunk-driving charges was arrested by Quebec police Sunday for another alleged drunk-driving incident and possession of a weapon in L’Ange-Gardien.
At about 12:45 p.m., a couple called police and reported the erratic driving of a man in the Val-des-Bois area.
According to the couple, the suspect nearly hit the front of their car head on as the driver was driving in the opposite direction.
Quebec police were able to intercept the vehicle in L’Ange-Gardien.
Police said in a news release that the driver was highly intoxicated and failed the breathalyzer test at a rate of more than twice the legal limit.
They also found a firearm in the vehicle.
A 32-year-old man from Gatineau was arrested.
The man, who’s name was not released, has a history of driving impaired.
The suspect faces several charges relating to firearms, driving while impaired and breach of probation.
