Both Peel police and OPP looking for witnesses

It was a tragic night on Mississauga roads following two crashes that left a young man and woman fighting for their lives in hospital and seven others injured.

The latest crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday (April 29) when a Honda Accord was travelling eastbound near Hurontario Street. The driver lost control and crashed through a guardrail, colliding with two westbound vehicles.

Police say a female was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with critical injuries while four others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP want anyone with information to call police at 905-278-6131.

Meanwhile, earlier in the evening, around 7 p.m., a 22-year-old Mississauga man sustained critical injuries at the scene of a multi-vehicle collision at the intersection of Britannia Road and Latimer Drive, near Heartland Town Centre. Three other individuals were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Peel Regional Police say three vehicles were involved in the crash. Police confirmed the critically-injured man was a passenger in one of the vehicles. The female driver of that vehicle was taken to hospital.

Many witnesses were on hand and are speaking with investigators from the force’s Major Collision Bureau.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.
