Stunt driving

A 21-year-old man has a December court date and no vehicle for a week after a stunt driving charge Tuesday.

Belleville police report an officer was performing radar duties on Old Highway 2 just before noon when he clocked a vehicle travelling 127 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone.

The driver was charged with stunt driving and is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 3.

The man’s vehicle was impounded for seven days and his driver’s licence has been suspended for a week.

Four-car collision

A man has been charged with careless driving after a four-car crash on North Front Street Tuesday evening.

Police report three cars were stopped in the southbound lanes south of Tracey Street when a car slammed into the rear of the first stopped car. This force caused the chain reaction collision with the next two stopped cars.

Paramedics attended to treat several people at the scene. Two of the cars were towed from the scene.

A 29-year-old man was charged with careless driving.

Impaired driving charge

A Picton man has been charged with impaired driving following an incident Tuesday night.

Prince Edward OPP officers responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling south on Highway 62 just after 8 p.m. Officers located the vehicle on Ortona Circle in Picton and, as a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old man was found to be impaired and charged with having more than 80mgs. of alcohol in blood while driving a motor vehicle.

The man was released on a promise to appear in court next month. The man’s vehicle was also impounded for seven days, as well as his license being suspended.
