Driver facing four charges

A 44-year-old Rockwood, Ont. man is facing multiple charges in relation to a suspected drunk driving crash that killed another man near Pearson International Airport in Mississauga early Thursday.

The accused, who police are not naming because he has yet to make a formal court appearance, has been charged with impaired driving causing death, excess blood alcohol causing death, criminal negligence causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

Peel Regional Police say the crash happened near Silver Dart Drive and Jetliner Road around 1:30 a.m.

Const. Bally Saini said the crash involved two vehicles and one of the drivers was arrested at the scene. The other driver, a male, was later pronounced dead. Witnesses said one of the vehicles burst into flames on impact.

The force’s Major Collision Bureau is investigating and asking anyone with information on the deadly crash to call 905-453-2121, ext. 3710.

This is the second serious crash in Peel involving a suspected impaired driver in just a few hours. Late Wednesday night, a man walking in Brampton was seriously injured when he was hit by a car. Police have arrested the female driver in that incident and charged her with excess blood alcohol.
