Citizens helped keep tabs on a suspected drunk driver until police could arrive on the scene, Oxford County OPP say.

According to an OPP press release, officers were first notified of the driver around 6:15 p.m. Sunday, when they got a complaint about a vehicle swerving on Highway 403.

People continued to call in concerns about the driver’s behaviour as the vehicle made its way to Highway 401, then to the ONroute service centre east of Ingersoll.

At the service centre, citizens kept the vehicle in the drive-thru until police made their way there and placed the driver under arrest.

A 31-year-old man from Stoney Point is charged with impaired driving.
