Police say a 17-year-old is facing stunt driving charges after a cop clocked him going almost 70 km/h over the speed limit on the Red Hill Valley Parkway Tuesday night.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m., when an officer spotted a black 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt flying down the northbound lanes of the RHVP at a high speed.

Police say the driver was going 157 km/h in a 90 km/h zone.

The teen’s car has been impounded for a week, and police seized his licence for seven days at the scene.

“He will have to appear in court to answer to his charge,” a police news release reads.

If convicted, the teen could face fines anywhere from $2,000 to $10,000, a two-year licence suspension, and a loss of seven demerit points.
