A Brant County OPP officer stopped a pickup truck on a traffic violation that led to the seizure of $90,000 worth of drugs.

An officer stopped a grey 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with two men and a woman inside on Highway 24, on Sunday at about 8 a.m. The officer was alerted to some items in the vehicle and the OPP began an investigation.

They found a quantity of marijuana, ecstasy and methadone in the vehicle. The total value of seized drugs is estimated at more than $90,000.

Police also seized two knives inside the vehicle.

A 28-year-old Timmins man is charged with two counts of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited or restricted weapon inside, and driving while under suspension.

A 19-year-old Timmins man has been charged with two counts of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a substance, both contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act, and being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited or restricted weapon inside.

A 29-year-old Haliburton woman has been charged with two counts of possession of a substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a substance, and being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a prohibited or restricted weapon inside.

The three parties will appear in Brantford Court at a later date to answer to their charges.
