A 26-year-old Scarborough man is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle rollover Thursday on Highway 401 near Duart Road.

Police responded to a traffic complaint in that area at about 8:45 p.m. when an eastbound tractor trailer swerved and entered crashed into a south-side ditch. The tractor trailer rolled onto its side, police said.

The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said an open bottle of liquor was found inside the vehicle.

Officers obtained a breath sample from the driver while he was in hospital and determined he had consumed alcohol.

The man is charged with driving a vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood and driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor.

Chatham-Kent provincial police officers are continuing to monitor driving behaviours including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving and seatbelt usage.
